Selaine Saxby MP for North Devon is included in the ENDS Power List 2024 for her environmental work and driving changes to green policy and legislation.

This year, the ENDS Power List has taken the decision to include politicians who have made significant contributions to environmental causes. To arrive at the list of 50 politicians, readers were asked to nominate elected politicians from any part of the UK, including those in the House of Commons, House of Lords, the devolved assemblies, local, regional and city regional government, as well as parish and town councils.

The politicians who have made the final list include changemakers, who have driven changes to green policy and legislation, as well as green champions, who have promoted environmental causes.

Selaine is the only MP from the 2019 intake.

Selaine Saxby, MP for North Devon said:

“I am honoured to be acknowledged for my environmental work in the ENDS Power List 2024. As a Member of Parliament and a Greeny Blue Tory, I have championed many environmental causes, from being a CPRE Hedgerow Hero and their Rooftop Solar Champion to being an advisory board member of the Conservative Environment Network. However, everything I do is connected to the unique nature of North Devon and the need to conserve our beautiful and diverse landscape, making this recognition all the more meaningful.

“When I took up the campaign to end woody biomass government subsidies, I did so, because we have an excellent wood panel manufacturing plant in South Molton that relayed to me the importance of sustainable forestry practices. I have brought forward two 10 Minute Rule Bills to Parliament, one on banning disposable BBQs on beaches and open moorlands following the fire at Baggy Point and the need to protect our wildlife and more recently, my Bill on all year round bathing water testing, in order to restore confidence in our beautiful beaches.

“Thank you to those who have nominated me; I will continue my work on these issues to ensure we drive environmental policy in a pragmatic way."

Selaine Saxby Statement on AR6

Tuesday, 3 September, 2024
Whilst Auction Round (AR) 6 has clearly been more successful than AR5 for Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW), the Celtic Sea was again unsuccessful in today’s announcement. In fact, there was only one winner out of a possible four eligible projects, all spread across the UK.
