North Devon MP, Selaine Saxby warmly welcomes today’s cautious reopening of many sectors of our economy

Selaine said:

This conditional and reversible unlock will enable our tourism and hospitality businesses to begin to reopen from 4th July.  As detailed by the Prime Minister the fewer the social contacts you have, the lower the risk of transmitting the virus and the unlocking is reliant on the common sense and also the community spirit of the British people.  Local modelling commissioned by Public Health Devon has shown that the earlier unlocking on 10th May has not resulted in a spike of cases with more visitors arriving to our beautiful beaches and countryside.  In the coming weeks, I hope we can begin to warmly welcome back visitors to North Devon, in a socially distant manner, and restart our economy, not to mention all getting our hair cut and being reunited with friends and family over a socially distant pint!
