Kingsacre School at Number 10

Selaine Saxby welcomed students from Kingsacre Primary School in Braunton this week to visit Number 10 and additionally, answer their questions on her life as their MP.

The students asked Selaine great questions about how it feels to be an MP, whether she has met the Prime Minister, what a day in the life looks like for an MP and the journey to her role.

Additionally, the students were interested to ask Selaine about whether she has banned anything in law. Selaine discussed her Disposable Barbecue Ten Minute Rule Bill, drawing on the environmental benefits of her proposed ban.

The students from Kingsacre also had the opportunity to visit Downing Street where they got a photo outside Number 10 with Selaine.

Selaine said:

“It was fantastic to welcome the students from Kingsacre to Number 10 and answer their questions particularly as they all bobbed to catch my eye!

“It is always great to take students to Downing Street even if they were most interested in Larry the cat.

“I hope that students at Kingsacre have enjoyed their trip and have a lovely rest of your time in London. If any other schools are visiting London or would like me to do a Q&A at a school in North Devon, please do email me at [email protected].”

Driving local skills

Far too many employers are unable to recruit highly skilled staff locally. I will continue to work alongside our schools and colleges to ensure skilled training and apprenticeships are available, to drive social mobility and attainment, making North Devon a great place to work and do business.

Selaine Saxby Statement on AR6

Tuesday, 3 September, 2024
Whilst Auction Round (AR) 6 has clearly been more successful than AR5 for Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW), the Celtic Sea was again unsuccessful in today’s announcement. In fact, there was only one winner out of a possible four eligible projects, all spread across the UK.
