I am asking those who live near one of North Devon’s busiest and most frustrating road systems, the B3233 and Cedars Roundabout, for their views. I know many people will use this roundabout and get caught up in this junction.
I remain dismayed at how poorly the traffic management system has been to accommodate road traffic works at Cedars Roundabout. It did somewhat ease as people started taking the delays into account and making changes to their journeys, but it need not have been this difficult.
I do genuinely hope this quite expensive scheme does help the traffic flow, councillors and officers were pleasantly surprised at the trial that it did ease congestion, which is why they backed it. Regardless of this, what this whole debacle has highlighted, not that it really needed highlighting, is that our councils have very little in the way of solid plans to ease congestion on the B3233.
I saw more interesting suggestions for plans moving forward on social media than I have in any Council powerpoint presentation. I have been speaking with the Department for Transport (DfT) about the severity of the situation, and I am hoping to be able to present some potential solutions to councils and DfT alike.
Please let me know your ideas by emailing me, but also by filling in this survey. You can post it back to me, or take a photo and attach it to an email, or fill in the survey on my website.
Data matters, which is why I need this survey filled in by as many people as possible. I can then present the ideas to Devon Highways and the Department for Transport, backed up by the strength of feeling shown by the number of surveys.
